Forres

Boyne House Apartment is situated in the centre of Forres with excellent transport facilities to Inverness, Elgin, Fochabers and Aberdeen.

There is free car parking in the car park opposite the apartment. Should you want to leave the car behind, you will be able to access all parts of Moray from Boyne House without requiring the need of a car.

The town of Forres is situated in the heart of Moray, just off the A96 about 27 miles east of the highland capital of Inverness. Click here for a map.

With its award winning parks and gardens, Forres is a great base for exploring the beautiful unspoilt Moray area with its whisky, castle trails, wildlife, mountains and coastline.Forres High Street
 
Boasting its own a traditional Scottish castle, the town is steeped in history. There are links with Forres to Shakespeare's Macbeth (before Macbeth became King of Scotland in 1040 he ruled the Moray area from his castle in Forres).

Four miles west of Forres is 16th. century Brodie Castle which has wonderful grounds and is one of the best examples of a restored Scottish castle.

Forres also boasts the Sueno's Stone a 20ft high giant Pictish slab commemorating a battle between the inhabitants of Moray and Nose settlers from Orkney with carvings depicting the story.

The beautiful Moray Firth coastline is only four miles away with many small coastal towns and villages such as Findhorn, Nairn and Lossiemouth. The Moray Firth is home to the famous Moray dolphins which can be seen swimming around the coast. Channonry point is one of the best land based places in the UK to spot dolphins.

Boyne House is only five miles from Findhorn. Findhorn is an attractive village which has a lovely bay, a superb beach and is home to the famous Findhorn Foundation. It is one of the most beautiful places in Scotland.

Newmarket Bar - on Tollbooth street. An excellent family restaurant.

The Red Beatie Pub -on Tolbooth Street. A busy traditional Scottish pub which serves bar food.

Chapter One - on the High Street. Forres' youngest restaurant serves an excellent inexpensive lunch menu and in the evening traditional dishes and succulent meals devised by their chef. Booking is required in the evening and lunch time.

Northern Fish and Chips Miele's of Forres - serves both eat in and take away fish and chips. They are famous for their delicious Italian style ice -cream.

There are also several cafes and a restuarant in nearby Findhorn and the Findhorn Foundation.
